[PT] Libera me nasce propositadamente para se juntar às celebrações dos vinte anos de actividade do Coral de Chaves.

Por se tratar de um concerto a realizar à volta do dia da  Comemoração de Todos os Fiéis Defuntos, o texto do Liber Usualis, não sendo, de todo, festivo, foi a opção que se afigurou mais acertada para ser apresentada hoje, pois trata-se de um Responsório do Ofício de Defuntos que é parte integrante de todas as comemorações fúnebres.

Não estremeçam os mais sensíveis com a temática escolhida. A esperança na ressurreição, no último dia, pode ser o motivo de celebração e exultação aqui traduzido na súplica piedosa mas confiante na misericórdia divina: “Livrai-me, Senhor, da morte eterna”.

[ENG] Libera me was composed with the purpose to join the celebrations of the twenty years of activity of the Coral de Chaves. As it is a concert to be held around the All Souls’ Day, the text by Liber Usualis, not being at all festive, it was the most appropriate option to be presented today, as it is a Responsorie of the Latin Office of the Dead, a part of all funeral celebrations. Do not shudder the most sensitive with the chosen theme. The hope in the resurrection, on the last day, can be the reason for celebration and exultation here translated in the pious but trusting prayer in the divine mercy: “Deliver me, O Lord, from death eternal.”
